It works fine for us in a 10 x 12 space Using the doorway shut. It does not operate continuously to maintain the room to 70, so I suppose it could keep up with colder climate. We've experienced no problems to date. It does not stink, make noise or get very hot adequate to burn you. A single issue I had was how It might be when our toddler turns rig
